General Duties of the County Assessor

The County Assessor is an elected official whose principal function is to determine the market value of all taxable property within the county for the purpose of equitable distribution of property tax burden. The Assessor, by law must have property valued at the current market value.  The office also keeps track of ownership changes, retains current plat maps and takes care of exemptions and property tax reduction applicants.

The Assessor is also charged with titling and registering motor and recreational vehicles and selling Idaho Parks and Recreation stickers and plates. The Assessor's office is located at the county courthouse at 10 West Court Street.
